2/22/2010:  We are now on facebook!  Please search and join the group "Somerset Brooke HOA" to be included on events and social activities.

1/1/2010:  Happy New Year!   Per the last homeowner meeting in December, we have a new Treasurer on the board - please join me in welcoming Pam Novosel!   Thank you VERY much to Troy Bower for doing such an outstanding job over the last couple years.

5/26/09:  Due to rain, we have re-scheduled the neighborhood BBQ to Sat May 30th between 11-1pm.   We will be grilling Hamburgers and Hotdogs, and have chips and soda/water on hand!   Please RSVP to Doug@Sbrooke.com - We look forward to seeing you there!

5/22/09:

The Pool is now open for the Summer!    Click here for the Pool Regulations

Thanks to Guy Snowdy and Troy Bower for their hard work in getting the pool area repaired, inspected, decorated and ready this year ahead of schedule.

SBHOA Memorial Day BBQ:   The SBHOA Board will also be hosting a Memorial Day BBQ at the pool between 11-2pm and we wanted to invite residents so we can say 'hello' to our neighbors and kick off the Summer.

We will be providing hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and soda for the residents - please help us get a good count and RSVP back to me (doug@sbrooke.com) and let us know how many in your family can make it!

Look forward to seeing you on Memorial Day and we wish you a happy and safe Summer!

Doug

1/25/09:  The Email below was sent out to Homeowners - if you are not getting notifications, please send your email address to board@sbrooke.com

We had a report of coyote operating in the neighborhood last night at the end of Grant Street.   Overland Park Animal Control has been monitoring this area with nighttime wildlife cameras and have observed a local pack of approx 5 coyotes.  They typically roam at night and are especially attracted to bird feeding stations as they have interest in both the birds and the seed.   In a couple weeks, Animal Control officers expect the OP City Council to pass a measure that would allow them to start trapping these animals.

In the meantime, please ensure your pets are closely monitored when outside - especially at dusk and at night.

1/6/2009:

Somerset Brooke Homeowners Association

Minutes of Annual Meeting

December 28, 2008

Meeting Topics:

Damage to Pool canopy (Wind Storm): Determining if this is covered under warranty, if not Board will define plan of action.  Possible second canopy for pool area: Board is looking into installing a second shade canopy at the pool based on budget availability.

Entrance Lighting:  Lights have recently been installed and members are pleased with their appearance!

Contracting out Christmas Decoration: Will engage contractor to decorate the neighborhood entrance for the holidays

Social Committee: We are looking for 2 or 3 people to head up a neighborhood social committee - we have not had any planned neighborhood activities in quite some time

Mailbox Update: There are still some mailboxes in the neighborhood that need to be repaired or replaced by the owner - please ensure your mailbox is in good condition.  Instructions have been posted on the website (below) to demonstrate how a low-cost lock can be incorporated into the mailbox to add a layer of security.

Deffenbaugh: Homeowners and Board are happy with Deffenbaugh service and will continue with them on a new contract.  Recycling is now included in SBHOA dues - call the Board or Deffenbaugh at 631-3300 if you are missing a box.

Tree replacements: Some trees at the entrance will be replaced - as well as a dead tree within the subdivision.

Pool contact numbers: Emergency and contact phone numbers will be posted at the pool.  A new phone provider is in place and will reduce yearly costs.

EMAIL Contact: Our online directory has been updated - finally!! Please check your entry and ensure your contact information is correct - also please provide your email address to the board (board@sbrooke.com) so we can quickly contact homeowners and provide up-to-date information about the neighborhood

Finance Update: We achieved a 100% collection this year - thanks to Troy Bower for his hard work!   Our SBHOA Budget was very balanced this year - please send an email to board@sbrooke.com if you would like a detailed breakdown of expenses and income.  There will be no dues increase for 2009!

bulletRecycling Initiative - Thank you to everyone participating in the neighborhood recycling program - we all love to see those green boxes in your driveway on Wednesday mornings!   Remember that Deffenbaugh does not take glass - just paper and plastics.   Thanks again for doing your part!

bulletMailboxes -  Michael St Louis did some research on replacement and lockable mailboxes and has installed an authorized and good looking mailbox in front of his home for under $100.  Reminder that the homeowner is responsible for the upkeep of their mailbox.
